CMS Announces Registration and Bid Window Dates for Round 2028 of the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced the bidding timeline with specific dates for the registration and bid window for Round 2028 of the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program (CBP).

The bid window was originally scheduled to open later this year. To give bidders additional time to prepare, CMS will open the bidder registration window on December 1, 2026, and the bid window on January 5, 2027.

CMS previously published Round 2028 fact sheets, a Lead Item Pricing Calculator, and frequently asked questions to help bidders prepare. CMS has now published additional fact sheets, the Request for Bids (RFB) Instructions, and an updated timeline on the Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor (CBIC) website. CMS encourages bidders to review all these materials so they have the guidance needed to submit complete bids by the close of the bid window.

The CBIC website is the official information source for bidders and the focal point for bidder education. It contains resources bidders need to prepare for Round 2028 of the DMEPOS CBP.

Bidders can also contact the CBIC Customer Service Center Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. prevailing Eastern Time for assistance.
